CONCORD TOWN MEETING 2013

Article 60 - supporting organization positions

Article 60 pertains to domestic pet cats only and excludes feral cats. While I support keeping cats indoors or within the confines of one's yard, this bylaw does not penalize all owners who allow their cats to roam-free outdoors, but rather, proposes a response for one's concern for safety, nuisance or disturbing the peace.

Many organizations, local and national, recommend keeping cats indoors. Some of these positions are listed below:

MSPCA (MA Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) - letter to Concord BOS

MSPCA (MA Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) - cats roaming position

HSUS (Humane Society of the U.S.) - 10 Tips on Backyard Wildlife

HSUS (Humane Society of the U.S.) - Cats & Wildlife

  HSUS - Cats Indoors

U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services - letter to NJ DEP

Wildlife Society - Free Roaming Cats

ABC (American Bird Conservancy) - Free Roaming Cats

ABC (American Bird Conservancy) - Cats Indoors

American Society of Mammalogists - Free Roaming Cats
